Daily Covid cases rise to 1,479 on increased testing in PMR | Pune News – Times of India


PUNE: The Pune Metropolitan Region on Wednesday reported 1,479 cases of Covid-19, which was the highest single-day tally since October 11 last year when 1,720 people had tested positive in the region. The rise was primarily on the account of increased testing, which almost touched 11,700 in the last 24 hours.

Besides, recoveries in PMR also increased to 945 on Wednesday, taking total discharges above 3.84 lakh. Among the new cases, the PMC limits recorded 743, followed by the PCMC limits (425) and the rural pockets (311). With this, the caseload in PMR increased above 4.01 lakh.
A report by the district health officer revealed that 11,681 tests were conducted in the region on Wednesday. Of these, as many as 6,514 tests were conducted in the PMC limits, followed by the rural areas (3,311) and the PCMC limits (1,856). The total sample testing in the region has increased above 22.68 lakh.
The report pointed out that despite the rise in positive cases, the daily death count continued to stay in single digit with four people succumbing to the infection-related complication in the region in the last 24 hours, taking its toll to 9,204.
The count of active patients increased to 8,258 in PMR on Wednesday evening. Of these, as many as 4,836 patients were in home isolation and 3,422 admitted in various hospitals.
