Haryana special task force to be strengthened further, says Anil Vij | Chandigarh News – Times of India


CHANDIGARH: Haryana home minister Anil Vij, while reviewing the organized crime scenario, said on Friday that the Special Task Force (STF) of the police would be strengthened further so that the criminal activities of interstate gangsters could be monitored and effectively dealt with.
The home minister was addressing the senior police officers during a review meeting of the police department on several important issues like crime prevention, detection, law and order situation late last evening here.
Expressing satisfaction over the performance of STF, the Minister also gave in-principle approval to provide them new modern vehicles, latest technology equipment and softwares etc. It was informed in the meeting that Haryana Assembly had passed a stringent Haryana Control of Organised Crime (HRCOC) Bill to check organised crime in the state. The same had been sent to the Central Government for the Presidential assent. It would be implemented in the entire state as soon as it was approved.
Giving clear instructions to the police officers, he asked to take immediate action against criminals and those disturbing law and order and be cordial and sensitive towards the public which believe in peace.
He said that criminals and law violators should have police fear, while the public should have faith in the police. The fear of the police among criminals will increase only when the police will increase their efficiency and enhance their social interaction with the public.
He also reviewed the successfully worked out cases like theft, burglary, simple and vehicle thefts. He also directed to work out all the pending cases so that the general public can get relief. With the help of public, police can curb criminal activities to a great extent. He instructed to take effective steps for investigation so that the offenders can be convicted and victims can get timely justice.
Grievances should be redressed in time-bound manner
The Home Minister said that many times the police are not able to solve the public grievances on time, which is a matter of concern. He instructed the officers to make mechanism for timely redressal of the grievances and resolve them within the prescribed time limit. The SPs of those districts which had high number of pending cases of crime were also asked to improve their performance.
Vacancies will be filled
It was informed in the meeting that 800 personnel retire from the Police Department every year while 200 lost their lives. This year the recruitment process for about 7500 vacancies is to be done through Haryana Staff Selection Commission. On this, the Home Minister assured to get the recruitment process accelerated.
Dial 112 to start soon
Vij said that Emergency Response and Support System 112 is going to be started soon in the state, which will provide police and other emergency services to the people. For this, 630 new Innova vehicles have been purchased, which will soon be dedicated in the service of the public.
Earlier, the DGP Haryana, Manoj Yadav welcomed the Minister and briefed about the activities and achievements of Haryana Police. He apprised the Minister that the police have apprehended 2 big criminals in the last 10 days. The Enforcement Directorate has been requested to get attached their assets.
