Her dog walker was shot four times in the chest before two men stole two of the singer’s three French bulldogs, according to multiple reports.
Two suspects fled the scene, with The Daily Mail reporting that they escaped with Koji and Gustavo. A bodyguard for Lady Gaga was said to have been pictured picking up her third French bulldog, Miss Asia, from the LAPD’s Hollywood station shortly after the shooting.
Los Angeles Police confirmed that a shooting occurred in West Hollywood shortly before 10 pm local time on Wednesday night, with the victim rushed to hospital in an unknown condition.
Lady Gaga’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, 30, had reportedly been walking the three French bulldogs outside his house before he was shot.
While the gunmen remain on the loose, the email address KojiandGustav@gmail.com has been set up for the perpetrators to claim the $500,000 reward, according to TMZ.
Video from the scene showed the victim curled up on the sidewalk clutching one of the French bulldogs.
The Independent has reached out to representatives of the singer for comment.
Lady Gaga is a noted dog lover. Her dog Miss Asia has a robust Instagram presence, and at one time, fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld called the bulldog “the most famous dog on the internet”. In 2015, Lady Gaga and Miss Asia announced a line for canines, offering “dog fashion, food, and accessories”.
The goal of this “major luxury fashion brand”, Gaga said at the time, is to “find creative and functional ways for pets and their owners to bond”.
In 2014, she posed with Asia on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar.
“She has really shown me the importance of living in the moment,” the “Rain On Me” singer said, calling the dog an “inspiration”.
“She is a very romantic and loving animal, and this sort of poetry is what art is all about, I think. Interaction. She loves to sit with me when I record jazz. She never barks or makes noise; she just looks at me with her big ears.”
