MUMBAI: Maharashtra government has allowed the general public to travel in local trains from February 1. Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray announced the decision on Friday.
However, to control crowds, the state has fixed time slots of non-peak hours for the general public to travel.

According to the orders issued by the state government, services will be available in 3-time slots — from the start of the day to 7am, 12 noon to 4pm and 9pm to the closure of the services for the day.
So far, only essential workers and women commuters have been allowed to travel by the government.
