PUNE: The Pune rural police on Sunday claimed to have busted an illegal Gutka manufacturing unit at Maval and seized raw material and machinery collectively worth Rs 2 crore.
Inspector T Y Mujawar of the Lonavla Rural police said that the police got a tip-off about Gutka manufacturing unit at Gofne village in Maval Taluka. “On Sunday our team raided the spot and found Gutka was being manufactured there illegally,” Mujawar said.
He said that the police found cans of different chemicals and different types of ingredients used for manufacturing Gutka. “We have also found Gutka mixing machine and machinery in the unit. We have seized chemicals and machinery collectively worth Rs 2 crore,” Mujawar said.
He said that the a case is being registered with the Lonavla Rural police against the suspects who were illegally manufacturing Gutka. “Our probe is on,” the officer said.
